Cold Turkey

Where the term came from, I don't know. I do think it's the best way to break a habit. Cold Turkey means to just stop doing the habit. That's it. Your done. Habit is broken.

Not so fast. Sometimes it works this way but most of the time, you will start the bad habit again. If this happens, realize that Cold Turkey didn't work this time, but you can try again and again and again.

The first few minutes, hours and days are the most difficult with this method. But once you get past this hurdle it actually gets easier. The reason is that once you've stopped, there's a good reason not to start again. It's to avoid the withdrawal pain again. Think about this if your ever tempted to get started again.

This method works for any habit. There are additional things you can do to make Cold Turkey easier, like using visualization to do the habit in your mind instead of really doing it.
